I think the islands of flowers are great! It adds to the city and believe that the islands have created a new pride in the city of Holyoke. Let's get some more creative ideas going!!!

I recently moved to Holyoke and have been very impressed by the beautiful islands with their plantings. Thank you to all of the dedicated folks who make this possible. It's not something you see in other communities very often.

I would like to begin an adopt an island in my home town. Could you tell me what is a fair price to charge? Also, what is it to include in the price. Any ideas?

I wish to thank the island participants for their expense, labor and most of all, the beauty that they bring to our roadsides. What an emotional lift I am given after passing one of these special islands! Thanks so much!

Q) Hey, i was wondering, me and a bunch of friends want to adopt a island but a couple of us are still in middle and high school, i am at dean tech and devoted to planting and landscaping so i would maintain the grounds well, can we still adopt the island?
A) Good morning Justin, I received your request from our website and of course you can adopt an island. It's never too late. Could you please let me know where you live so we can try to locate you an island close by? Thank you and we look forward to having you and your friends as new sponsors. Have a great day.

Q. hi, i was wondering if anyone was going to plant in areas other than an island, like maybe along 202? thanks.
A. Yes, Amanda, I hear there is a big island going in somewhere up near the 'rocks'. Watch for it this summer! The areas are mostly traffic islands, but can be a wayside along a roadway, too!

Love the web page... sorry, no pictures of previous "islands", but we'll be sure to take and submit some this year.Looking forward to some sun! The tulips and daffodils will be blooming soon. Let the 'island' season begin!

How are the wood chips that the City supplies? Do they last all year? Are they easy to take care of? Or is it just a good to pick up a few bags of red chips?

Which types of flowers seem to do the best? Which are high-maintenance or easy to care for over the summer?
